Once I started getting enough decent digital photos with my Digital Rebel, I started thinking about how I could display them on my webspace with as much detail as possible. Since most monitors can't cope with an image that's over 3000 pixels wide (or tall) without shrinking it, I immediately turned to Flash and some form of mouse-based panning. This version was a quick test to see how feasible this project was, and the entire thing was put together on a whim in about 30 minutes. The photo is one that I took at the North Carolina Museum of Natural Sciences in the same room where the Acrocanthosaurus skeleton is.
